Housing, stability, and pathways to independence for women rebuilding their lives
Women Determined is a nonprofit organization based in New Orleans that provides housing, stability, and pathways to independence for women experiencing homelessness, including women impacted by incarceration. We offer safe housing for up to two years, remove financial barriers, and require participants to work, save, and prepare for long-term independence and financial freedom.
Who We Are
Women Determined is a nonprofit organization based in New Orleans providing long-term housing, stability, and structured pathways to independence for women experiencing homelessness, including women impacted by incarceration.
We remove immediate financial barriers and provide up to two years of safe housing so women can work, save, and prepare for long-term independence and financial freedom.
Our Purpose
Too many women leave incarceration or homelessness with no stable place to land and no time to rebuild. Women Determined exists to change that.
We provide the time, structure, and support women need to transition into independence with dignity. By removing immediate financial burdens and reinforcing accountability through work and savings, women are able to restore their lives — and the communities they return to.
What We Do
Women Determined provides long-term, stable housing and structured support that allows women to work, save, heal, and prepare for independence.
Long-Term Housing
Participants live in our homes for up to two years, with no rent and no household bills. By removing immediate financial pressure, women can focus on employment, savings, healing, and long-term planning.
Financial Accountability
Women in the program are required to work and save at least 75% of their income. This structure allows women to build real savings—often for the first time—creating financial security and long-term stability.
Pathway to Ownership
Our goal is for each participant to leave the program financially prepared to purchase and restore a home, transforming blighted properties into stable housing and strengthening the surrounding community.
Our Programs
Economic Freedom & Empowerment Program
Transitional housing that combines stability, disciplined saving, and a pathway to ownership—designed to help women achieve permanent financial independence.
Neighborhood Transformation Program
Community-led cleanup and restoration efforts that empower women to rebuild neighborhoods while earning stipends and strengthening pride, ownership, and leadership.
Technology & Math (TAM) Program
Workforce preparation through digital literacy, math proficiency, and problem-solving skills that increase earning potential and long-term job stability.
Our Impact
Women Determined measures success through stability, savings, and long-term independence. Our programs are designed to produce tangible outcomes that change lives while strengthening communities.
